Well, it isn't a paying gig, but I try to take care of my team. When you get a beta copy of a manuscript, the expectations are to turn it around in a reasonable amount of time (usually a month for a full book). Also, loose lips sink star ships. Don't share what you read, so the surprise isn't spoiled for others. Things usually change a lot between the beta and final draft, anyway. Finally, be honest. Writers have thick skin.
